Dr. Crimp's interests include dermatopathology and clinical education. Outside of medicine, she enjoys exploring the great outdoors of the Pacific Northwest, reading, cooking, and traveling (in the pre-COVID era). A little known fact about her is that she was a member of a performance juggling group back in the day. 

Anna Tappel

Anna Tappel, MD

Internship: Virginia Mason Medical Center, Preliminary Medicine

Hometown: Anchorage, Alaska

Dr. Tappel's interests include general and pediatric dermatology, psychocutaneous disease, and systemic medical issues such as prevention of medical error. She grew up in an Air Force family and traveled extensively prior to settling in Anchorage, Alaska. After completing medical school in the East, she is excited to be back on the West Coast and has enjoyed eating her way through Seattle. When not in the hospital, she enjoys travel (particularly if it involves scuba diving and street food), performing and listening to a wide variety of musical genres, and watching other people cook. A little known fact about Dr. Tappel is that she loves to watch Korean dramas ("Kdramas").

Rachael Ward, MD, MPH

Dr. Ward’s clinical interests include: skin of color, health outcomes in underrepresented populations, hair disorders, hidradenitis suppurativa, general medical dermatology for adult and pediatric populations, procedural dermatology, and cosmetic dermatology. She enjoys spending time and co-collaborating with her husband, who works in the financial technology industry. She loves animals and especially enjoys spending time with her yorkie Bella, and newbie to the family, Snowy, an aussiedoodle.

Jason Ya, MD

Career Development Activities: 

  • Published two articles in JAAD: "TNF-α Inhibitor-Induced psoriasis: A decade of experience at the Cleveland Clinic" (12/2018); "Family history of psoriasis, psychological stressors, and tobacco use are associated with the development of tumor necrosis factor-α inhibitor-induced psoriasis: A case-control study" (06/2020).
  • Member of the Wellness and Research committees.

Dr. Ya's academic interests include cutaneous oncology, bioinformatics, genetics, and technology in medicine. His interests outside of medicine include traveling, the outdoors, flying, and eating.
