Dr. Kira Seiger Joins UW Dermatology Faculty

Please join us in welcoming Kira Seiger, MD, MBA, (she/her/hers) to the Department of Dermatology as an Acting Instructor and dermatologist based at the Roosevelt Dermatology Center and Harborview Medical Center!

Kira SeigerDr. Seiger will also oversee process and quality improvement activities as our Department’s very first Director of Quality Improvement (QI)—with the goal of improving patient outcomes, achieving efficiency, and reducing costs for patient care. Her expertise in QI also encompasses health systems advocacy and cost analysis. 

Dr. Seiger joins us after recently graduating from the Dermatology Residency program at the University of California, San Francisco. Throughout her residency, Dr. Seiger took on numerous leadership roles, becoming the Chief of Medical Student Education, Grand Rounds, and Quality Improvement. She has successfully led several QI initiatives, notably an award-winning project improving language-concordant care at UCSF. For her work in quality improvement, Dr. Seiger received the Excellence in Patient Care Award: Resident Quality Improvement Award from the American Academy of Dermatology in Jan. 2024.  

Dr. Seiger earned her BA in Human Biology with a Concentration in Health Management and Policy at Stanford University in 2014. She earned her MD and MBA simultaneously at Harvard Medical School and Harvard Business School, completing both in 2020. Dr. Seiger completed her Internal Medicine Internship in 2021 at Kaiser Permanente Oakland Medical Center. She then went on to complete her Dermatology Residency at the University of California, San Francisco, and recently graduated from the program in 2024.   

With her extensive background in health systems advocacy, cost analysis, and a proven track record in leading successful QI initiatives, Dr. Seiger is poised to make a significant impact on our department. Her expertise will be invaluable in driving improvements in patient care and operational efficiency.
