2022 Merkel CELLebration & Dinner
UW Division of Dermatology’s Nghiem Lab, the laboratory of Dr. Paul Nghiem, PhD, Head of the Division of Dermatology, held its annual Merkel CELLebration & Dinner on Monday, Sept. 12, 2022, at the UW Medicine Research Campus in Seattle’s South Lake Union neighborhood.
This year’s hybrid event gave participants the option to attend in-person or virtually.
Each year the Nghiem Lab hosts the Merkel CELLebration & Dinner to share the latest advances in the treatment of Merkel cell carcinoma (MCC), a rare and lethal form of skin cancer, and to connect with the lab’s extensive community of patients and their families, physicians, pharmaceutical partners, and scientific experts. This year’s event welcomed around 120 in-person attendees, and around 75 virtual attendees.
The program included musical performances (including a violin duet by Dr. Nghiem and his son), engaging patient stories discussing their experiences with MCC, and a presentation of new research and clinical developments. Attendees also had the opportunity to take a tour the Nghiem Lab, guided by members of the lab’s research team.
Thank you to all who attended this year’s Merkel CELLebration & Dinner! We are honored to be a partner as we come together to fight this disease. Special thank you to the entire Nghiem Lab Research Team for their help planning and organizing this year’s event.
