Welcome to UW Dermatology, Jenny!

Welcome Q&A

What is your previous education experience?

I graduated from the University of Washington in 2019 with a BS in Biochemistry and Biology: Physiology. During my gap years, I worked as a Chief Medical Scribe in the emergency room and later as a medical assistant at a dermatology clinic, where I developed a strong interest in the field. I recently completed my third year of medical school at the University of Washington Seattle campus.

What is your previous research experience?

I’ve been involved in research projects on cutaneous lymphoma, the impact of social media in dermatology, and patient experiences. As a first-generation immigrant, I’m also interested in improving care for underserved communities and understanding how socioeconomic and cultural factors shape healthcare access.

Why inspired you to pursue this fellowship?

As a medical assistant in dermatology, I found joy in helping patients understand and manage conditions that were visually evident and often deeply personal.

That experience sparked my interest in both the clinical and emotional aspects of dermatologic care, which aligns with this fellowship’s focus on patient experiences and quality of life in rare skin conditions.

What do you hope to accomplish during your fellowship?

During my fellowship, I hope to gain a deeper understanding of the patient population and continue research that explores how skin conditions affect their lives.

I’m excited to learn more about dermatopathology by working with my mentor, who also specializes in this field, as histology was one of my favorite subjects in medical school. Finally, I look forward to connecting with dermatologists, residents, and fellows to learn from their experiences.

What do you like to do in your free time?

I enjoy doing puzzles, playing board games, and spending time on my Nintendo Switch. I also love spending time outdoors, exploring new food places, and enjoying quality moments with friends and family.
