2025 Pommerening Memorial Lecture

The UW Department of Dermatology hosted its annual Robert A. Pommerening Memorial Lecture on Friday, October 3, 2025, at the UW Tower. The event brought together faculty, trainees, alumni, and members of the dermatology community for an engaging exploration of advances and perspectives in dermatology.
This year’s keynote speaker was Ilona Frieden, MD, Professor of Pediatrics and Dermatology at the University of California, San Francisco School of Medicine, who presented an insightful lecture titled “Field Notes of a ‘Hemangioma Watcher.’”
We were thrilled to welcome more than 40 in-person and virtual attendees. Thank you to everyone who joined us—we hope you enjoyed your experience and gained some valuable insights.
The program began with five patient case presentations by second-year dermatology residents; Marissa Appiah, MD, Wenelia Baghoomian, MD, MCR, Aisha Jamison, MD, Emily Marré, MD, MPH, and Pragna Naidoo, MD, MHS.

Held each October, the Pommerening Memorial Lecture celebrates the Department’s commitment to education and excellence in dermatology. The event highlights accomplishments from the past year, notable case discussions, and welcomes a distinguished guest lecturer to share their expertise on a topic of clinical or academic interest.
A special thank you to UW Dermatology's administrative staff team members for their dedication and support in helping make this year’s event a success.

We were also excited to announce the establishment of the John E. Olerud Dermatology Resident & Fellow Fund for Career Development during this year’s Pommerening Lecture.

We invite you to make a gift in support of this new fund and help shape the future of resident and fellow education at UW Dermatology.
