It's a Match! Welcome to Our 4 Incoming Residents

After the incredible efforts of our faculty, residents, and staff during the residency selection process this year, it is with great pleasure that we announce the results of today’s Match. 

We welcome Brian Connor, MD, who will start July 1, 2021, and Linda Oyesiku, Charlotte Read, MBBS, and Yvette Ssempijja who will start July 1, 2022. 

We had over 550 applications to our program this year, and interviewed 33 candidates over the course of three virtual interview days.

About Our Matched Candidates

Brian Connor, MD

He is currently an Internal Medicine resident at the University of Washington School of Medicine. His medical school was Virginia Tech Carilion School of Medicine. He matched for our Physician Reserve position, and will start with us on July 1, 2021.

Linda Oyesiku 

She will be joining the program on July 1, 2022. Her current medical school is University of Miami Leonard M. Miller School of Medicine.

Charlotte Read, MBBS

She will be joining the program on July 1, 2022. Her medical school was the Imperial College, London Faculty of Medicine, and she is currently a research associate at the University of Southern California, Los Angeles.

Yvette Ssempijja

She will be joining the program on July 1, 2022. Her current medical school is Meharry Medical College.

Huge thanks to all of you who put so many hours and so much energy into the residency selection process this year reviewing applications, and interviewing candidates (to name just a couple aspects of this huge and worthwhile endeavor), including Markus Boos who fearlessly led the process this year, Anna Cogen, Roy Colven, Nic Compton, Katie DeNiro, Phil Fleckman, Andrea Kalus, Lisa Maier, Paul Nghiem, April Schachtel, Meredith Sheedy, Michi Shinohara, Rob Sidbury, and Jay Vary. 

Also deep gratitude our current residents Josiah Hanson, Dan Leifer, Benji Perin, Max Vale, Lauren Bonomo, Emily Duffy, Deva Wells, Caitlin Crimp, Anna Tappel, Rachael Ward, and Jason Ya for hosting the candidates for pre-interview day meet and greets, and in virtual break rooms on interview days, to our extraordinary staff Aimee Filippi, Trang Nguyen, and Liz Wright for enormous help behind the virtual scenes on interview days, and to Mackenzie Keyse for all her efforts on our website and Twitter to promote our program and make it more visible, and for the wonderful video about the more personal side of our division for candidates to get to know us better even though they couldn’t visit.

Friday, January 14 from 8am-12pm Interviews, 2pm-4pm final ranking meeting

Interviews will be virtual again in 2022. We will be reaching out to faculty in the next month about participation in the residency selection process and interviews in April.
