Meet Louis Zheng (he/him/his), an Undergraduate Office Assistant supporting the UW Division of Dermatology's finance team! Originally from Saipan, part of the Northern Mariana Islands commonwealth of the US, Louis is currently a junior at the University of Washington studying Political Science.

What do you like most about being a student at UW?

For me, the best part about being a student at UW, and this might be a very obscure thing to say, is the U-Pass. I love being able to use public transportation for free. Especially for students like me who moved to Washington from abroad, the U-Pass is a lifesaver. Ubers can get really expensive and constantly asking friends for rides takes a toll on their gas, and, consequently, their wallet. Therefore, I’ve got to say, the best part of being a student at University of Washington is the U-Pass.

What are some of your goals after you graduate?

The long-term goal is to get into law school. I know, that ambition isn’t really adjacent with this position, but I truly feel my skills are best used in the legal field. I enjoy reading and analyzing Supreme Court Precedents regarding Constitutional Law. After law school, I want to become a public defender as I am conscious of the cost associated with attorneys.

What do you enjoy doing outside of work?

I am a part of the University of Washington Mock Trial Club. There, I compete typically as a mock attorney, questioning witnesses and giving speeches. Besides academia, I go to the gym quite frequently, play video games, and occasionally sketch. I promise, or hope, that I’m not completely boring.
