BIOGRAPHY

Mariam Alam, MD, (she/her/hers) is a Assistant Professor of Clinical Practice in the UW Department of Dermatology and a board-certified dermatologist at Harborview Medical Center. She is the Director of the Granulomatous Disease Clinic.

Dr. Alam earned her BS in Interdisciplinary Studies: Health & Society at Bates College in 2010. She earned her MD at Tufts University School of Medicine in 2015. After completing her MD, Dr. Alam attended the University of Washington in the Internal Medicine Residency program from 2015-2019. She served as chief resident of the program during from 2018-2019. Dr. Alam worked as a hospitalist between 2019-2021, first at the University of Washington Medical Center- Northwest and then the Pennsylvania Hospital. 

Dr. Alam returned to the University of Washington in 2021 to start her Dermatology Residency and graduated from the program in 2024. She served as chief resident during her senior year. 

Dr. Alam has an interest in narrative medicine and has a particular interest in inflammatory and autoimmune skin disorders, with a special focus on cutaneous granulomatous disease.
