UW Dermatology Welcomes New Faculty & Leadership in 2022
The UW Medicine Division of Dermatology is excited to announce two faculty leadership transitions and one new faculty member set to join our team of dedicated physicians in 2022.
On Jan. 1, 2022, Jay Vary, MD, PhD, (he/him) who previously served as the Clinical Medical Director of Medical Dermatology for the UW Medical Center’s Roosevelt Dermatology Center, began a new leadership role as Director of Clinical Operations for the entire Division of Dermatology. Dr. Vary will also continue teaching as an Associate Professor.
Kendra Bergstrom, MD, (she/her) Clinical Assistant Professor and board-certified dermatologist at UW Medical Center-Roosevelt Dermatology Center, will step into Dr. Vary’s former role as Clinical Medical Director of Medical Dermatology for the Roosevelt Dermatology Center. Both Drs. Vary and Bergstrom will continue to see patients at UWMC-Roosevelt.
"My goal is to have our work environment be as efficient, harmonious, and respectful as possible,” says Dr. Bergstrom. “I want [our clinic] to be a great place to be…we spend a lot of time there! I see many bright lights in our staff and faculty. They have an abundance of skills, knowledge, and energy and go above and beyond for our patients. I hope that we can retain our standard."
Our thanks to Drs. Vary and Bergstrom for taking on leadership roles in the Division of Dermatology during this unprecedented time of growth and change as the division prepares the transition to become a department within the UW School of Medicine.
