2021 Residency Program Teaching Awards
The residents annually recognize faculty members for outstanding teaching over the last year at the spring trainee graduation ceremony.
This year, Dr. Markus Boos, associate professor, received the Faculty Teaching Award and Dr. Dan Lantz, volunteer clinical professor, received the Volunteer Faculty Teaching Award.
Markus Boos, MD, PhD
Dr. Boos is an associate professor in the Department of Pediatrics and an adjunct faculty member in the Division of Dermatology. He is an associate program director for the Dermatology Residency Program and a practicing pediatric dermatologist at Seattle Children’s Hospital.
"Markus holds himself and all those around him to the highest of standards, but does so in such a way that is loving, compassionate, and inclusive," one nomination states.
"I learn from him not only as a teacher of dermatology but a teacher of humanity, vulnerability, social justice, and how to show up for people. He deserves this award."
Dan Lantz, MD
Dr. Lantz, a dermatopathologist with Dermatology Northwest, teaches weekly dermatopathology conferences for the dermatology residents.
"Dr. Lantz shows incredible devotion to educating the residents," says one nomination. "He volunteers time weekly to methodically review the cannon of derm path as well as to challenge us with instructive cases from his own practice during the week. He is also generous with his time away from work, inviting us to share in his passions and his home - he is an irreplaceable asset of our program."
