UW Dermatology Staff Nominated for Distinguished Staff Awards

The UW Department of Dermatology is proud to have two staff members nominated for the University of Washington’s 2023-24 Distinguished Staff Awards!  

Please join us in congratulating Stephanie Timm, Manager of Dermatology Education & Training Programs and Administrator for the Dermatology Residency Program, and Mac Writt, Communications Specialist, on this tremendous achievement! Stephanie and Mac will be formally recognized at the Distinguished Staff Award Reception on Feb. 27, 2024.  

The Distinguished Staff Awards are UW’s highest staff honor, highlighting colleagues who create a world of good through their hard work, dedication and selfless spirit. The DSA’s are part of the University's Awards of Excellence program. Nominees represent staff members who exemplify excellence in the following categories; Collaboration, Innovation, Impact, Diversity, Equity and Inclusion, and Career Achievement. Stephanie was nominated in the Diversity, Equity and Inclusion category, and Mac was nominated in the Impact category.

We (the Executive Committee of UW Dermatology and Residency Program leadership) are nominating Steph for this award because throughout her time in Derm, she has been a quiet but mighty driving force for improvements in our department across numerous realms – justice/equity/inclusion, improvements for our residency program, wellness, and innumerable operational changes that have improved the overall work environment. We cannot think of a person more deserving for such an award.

Mac handles all communications (internal and external) for the Dermatology Department. He is responsible for maintaining our six websites. He also provides faculty support for four faculty members. In this year of transition, we became the newest department at UW, Mac has been instrumental in insuring that our messaging was clear and concise. He keeps the department informed through a weekly newsletter (Derm Blast), that he developed and makes continued improvements. Mac embodies our mission of advancing dermatology with integrity, compassion, and innovation.
