What is next for you after graduation?
Private practice in Chicago, IL
What are your future career goals?
Over the next 5–10 years, I plan to focus on my clinical practice and establishing a subspecialty hair loss clinic. In the long term, I hope to take on a leadership role in hospital administration
and policy.
What do you value most about your training experience at UW Dermatology?
I appreciate our dedicated faculty, who take the time to teach even on the busiest clinic days, and for our pharmacy, nursing, and coordination teams, who we lean on to provide the best
care.
What accomplishments in residency are you most proud of?
Looking back, I am most proud of how I balanced the demands of my first year of residency while navigating my first year of parenthood. I'm incredibly grateful for my husband, support system, and the community I've found through the UW parenthood network.
Who were your mentors and how did they support you?
Steph Timm, and Drs. Wells, Cogen, Boos, Park, Knopp, and Reichel, all played a meaningful role in my growth and success throughout residency. They supported me in many ways, from navigating administrative tasks to providing career advice and mentorship.
What advice would you share with incoming dermatology residents?
I recommend getting involved with national organizations and societies that align with your interests. These groups often provide resource for residents, and this is a great way to connect with other trainees who share similar career goals. Enjoy the journey!
What’s your favorite story or memory from residency that you still think about?
There are so many memories, but sampling sweets from our staff and providers is one of my favorites! A few that come to mind include Heather Pullen’s banana bread, Dr. Gunnell’s famous chocolate chip cookies, Dr. Oyesiku’s peanut butter fudge brownies, Dr. Shinohara’s dark and milk chocolates, and, of course, Dr. Sybert’s legendary dessert party.
