Mariam Alam, MDMariam Alam, MD

Dr. Mariam Alam is a graduate of Tufts University School of Medicine and completed Internal Medicine Residency at the University of Washington. Dr. Alam’s interests include complex medical-dermatology, inpatient consultative dermatology and skin of color.

“After a few years of clinical practice as a hospitalist, I am most excited to delve back into learning, find my clinical niche, and build relationships with my patients in my continuity clinic. I hope to build my career in an academic setting with plenty of opportunities to teach.”  

Brian Connor, MDBrian Connor, MD

Dr. Brian Connor attended medical school at the Virginia Tech Carilion School of Medicine. His clinical interests include general medical dermatology, cosmetic dermatology, LGBTQ+ health, health systems/outcomes-based research as well as healthcare policy and leadership.

“Hailing from Internal Medicine residency, I am excited to finally start focusing and cultivating my clinical and academic interests within the field of dermatology. (Not to mention brush up on some less-frequently utilized procedural skills over the past couple years.) Also, I cannot wait to meet my co-residents.”

Amoreth Gozo, MDAmoreth Gozo, MD

Dr. Amoreth Gozo received her MD from Morehouse School of Medicine and recently completed her Internship at Walter Reed National Military Medical Center. Her academic and career interests include health education, skin of color, teledermatology, working with medically underserved communities, and procedural dermatology.

“I am most excited about meeting and learning from experts in the field, and being able to perform dermatologic procedures.”

Sidney Hoskins, MDSidney Hoskins, MD

Dr. Sidney Hoskins is a graduate of the University of Washington School of Medicine and completed her internship at the Virginia Mason Medical Center. Her academic and career interests include rural general dermatology, pediatric dermatology, teledermatology and procedural dermatology.

“I am most excited to learn from and collaborate with the faculty and residents at UW Dermatology. The opportunity to train in different environments through the UW system is incredible and I look forward to developing the critical thinking and procedural skills needed to serve patients from all over the Northwest. “

 

Laura Valaas, MDLaura Valaas, MD

Dr. Laura Valaas attended Whitman College for her undergraduate degree in applied mathematics. She received her Master of Health Informatics degree from the University of Washington and attended medical school at University of Wisconsin School of Medicine and Public Health. Dr. Valaas's career interests include general dermatology and dermatologic surgery as well as exploring how to be an effective leader in the healthcare setting and navigate change management. 

She is most excited about being surrounded by her inspiring co-residents and faculty, having new experiences, and learning from her patients throughout her Dermatology training.
