UW Dermatology is fortunate to have a small, but passionate team of administrative staff members whose talent and dedication to our faculty, trainees and research teams help make our division such a great place to learn, work and teach. Check-out how our staff contributes to our academic, research, patient care and service missions.

Meet Aimee Filippi (she/her), CME Programs Manager and Intranet Builder!

Aimee Filippi When did you start working at the University of Washington?

I came to the Division of Dermatology in May of 2018, starting with a temporary position and then moving to permanent position about three months in.

What is your work and educational background?

I graduated magna cum laude from Cornish College of the Arts with a BFA in Theater and have worked with several arts organizations in the Seattle area both on stage and behind the scenes. I have two plus decades of childcare experience and am a music teacher for children 0-5 years with additional training for babies 0-8 months.

What drew you to your current role at UW?

Initially my role was meant to be a temporary appointment, and I wanted to be of help. After starting I discovered a talent for finding ways to optimize tasks, automating repetitive tasks and streamlining shared information.

Tell us about your position; what does a typical day look like?

My main job is twofold, managing all the CME (Continuing Medical Education) activities and building out the intranet which provides important information and resources to the Division of Dermatology. I also handle call entry and assorted residency program tasks. In a typical day I’m fielding intranet questions or updates, managing CME activity requirements and compiling necessary paperwork, running a CME meeting, and updating call.

What's the best part of your job?

I enjoy making other people’s jobs easier. Whether I’m creating a page where they can share information widely, cutting down on the number of emails sent or automating said emails.

What do you enjoy doing in your free time?

I enjoy seeing theater, visiting with friends, eating at restaurants, and traveling when I can.
