2021 Pommerening Memorial Lecture & 60th Anniversary Celebration
The UW Division of Dermatology held its 2021 Pommerening Memorial Lecture and 60th Anniversary Celebration on Friday, October 8, 2021.
The annual lecture welcomes staff, faculty, trainees, alumni and partners for an opportunity to commemorate notable events from the previous year and celebrate the Division's commitment to education. The Division celebrated this year's lecture virtually — with over 100 attendees tuning into the lecture over Zoom.
This year’s Pommerening Lecture was also a commemoration of the Division of Dermatology’s 60th Anniversary since becoming a division within UW Medicine. Dr. Paul Nghiem, professor and Head of the Division of Dermatology, kicked off the event with a decade by decade look at the history of the Division from the 1960s to the 2010s. The virtual 2021 Pommerening Lecture featured guest lecturer, Dr. Junko Takeshita, Assistant Professor of Dermatology and Epidemiology at the University of Pennsylvania, Perelman School of Medicine, presenting on “Eliminating Disparities in Dermatology: An Example in Psoriasis.”
Following the keynote address were two guest presenters; Dr. Lindsay Gunnell, Clinical Research Fellow for the Nghiem Lab, discussing her latest research, and Dr. Laura Swanson with a message from the Washington State Dermatology Association.
