UW Derm Residency to Host Virtual Interviews for 2021-22 Application Cycle

The UW Dermatology Residency Program has made the decision to continue virtual interviews for the upcoming 2021-2022 residency application cycle, and potentially beyond. 

This decision was made by centering equity: by conducting interviews virtually, we strive to provide all applicants a fair experience without undue stress related to costs associated with travel; we also aim to be mindful of individuals who may still have concerns or risks related to the COVID-19 pandemic.  Program leadership also sees this as a choice that prioritizes environmental justice as we do our part to limit our contribution to greenhouse gas emissions and climate change. 

We recognize also that some students will be disheartened by not having the opportunity to visit with us in person, and to spend time in our incredible city. We pledge to do our best to remain completely transparent about all aspects of our program, and to provide access to our attending physicians and current residents so that applicants can get a true “feel” of our dermatology family. In that spirit, we will again be hosting three virtual open houses over the summer months for prospective applicants to get to know our program.

The virtual open houses will be held:

Overall, our experience with last year’s virtual interviews proved to be extremely positive and rewarding for both applicants and interviewers and we are excited to recreate and enhance that same experience this year.

Our goal is to match residents who will thrive in our collegial, justice- and wellness-oriented program, and who will take their experiences with mentors at each of our five incredible medical centers to create fulfilling careers filled with passion for their work.
