Several UW Derm faculty and staff have recently volunteered to administer COVID-19 vaccinations at UW Medicine and Public Health Seattle King County.

The University of Washington vaccination rollout began in mid-December with the goal of providing vaccines to all frontline healthcare staff, essential personnel as well as first responders and community partners. As of Jan. 6th, the UW has administered over 13,000 doses of the Pfizer and Moderna vaccines.

Associate professor Dr. Andrea Kalus was one such faculty member who served with Public Health Seattle King County (PHSKC) as a preceptor for medical student vaccinators at a drive through COVID vaccination clinic for first responders.  The students and faculty preceptors were a part of a UW interprofessional service learning project with volunteers from the UW School of Medicine, School of Nursing and School of Pharmacy.

Several other clinic staff members have also volunteered to administer vaccines and staff vaccination clinics so as to support such a large-scale and fast-paced service.

The Division would like to extend a huge "Thank You" to our team members and colleagues from around the UW for their work toward this milestone in the coronavirus pandemic.
