Dr. April Schachtel Selected for AAD Academic Dermatology Leadership Program

April Schachtel UW Dermatology is excited to announce, April Schachtel, MD, Clinical Assistant Professor, has been selected to participate in the American Academy of Dermatology Association’s (AAD) 2023 Academic Dermatology Leadership Program (ADLP) and Leadership Forum (April 14-16, 2023).

The ADLP is a year-long program that provides training, mentoring, and networking opportunities to help dermatologists develop leadership skills to address the unique challenges of academic dermatology practice. The ADLP includes the AAD’s annual Leadership Forum, a two-day forum that provides opportunities to advance leadership and communication skills while networking with colleagues.

Dr. April Schachtel is a board-certified dermatologist and Chief of Dermatology for the VA Puget Sound Health Care System, Site Rotation Director for UW Dermatology residents and the Director of UW Internal Medicine Residency

 dermatology rotations. Dr. Schachtel completed her residency in internal medicine in 2015 and dermatology in 2018, both at the University of Washington. She joined the dermatology faculty team at the VA Puget Sound in 2018. She has multiple clinical and academic interests including dermatologic manifestations of endocrine diseases, nail disorders, rheumatologic dermatology, and the effects of climate change on skin.
