Congratulations to the Class of 2026!

On Thursday, June 25, the UW Department of Dermatology celebrated the residency and fellowship graduates - hugs, laughs, tears, and lots of kind words to honor a group of hard-working and dedicated doctors. We can’t wait to see what their futures hold!

Josiah Hanson, MD - Assistant Professor of Clinical Practice and of Department of Laboratory Medicine & Pathology

Residents vote each year to select the faculty member that best exemplifies a teacher in the most ideal sense.

Read what the residents say about Dr. Hanson:

Dr. Hanson has been a phenomenal teacher, especially in the field of dermatopathology! He has given the residents multiple dermpath lectures over the past year (bright and early at 7am), and his enthusiasm for dermpath is infectious. We learn so many pearls from him during dermpath signout, and he always has fun non-medical trivia facts for us too. His dedication to teaching and mentorship is clear, and I'm thankful for his guidance throughout residency.

Volunteer Faculty Teaching Award

Kelly Griffith-Bauer

Kelly Griffith-Bauer, MD, FAAD, FACMS - Epiphany Dermatology

Residents vote each year to select a volunteer faculty member who encourages resident learning and actively fosters resident education.

Read what the residents say about Dr. Griffith-Bauer:

Dr. Kelly Griffith-Bauer is a warm, incredibly engaging, and very supportive mentor. She creates a learning environment where trainees feel both encouraged and empowered. She is committed to helping residents build confidence in procedural skills, offering thoughtful guidance, hands-on teaching, and reassurance that fosters growth and true independence. Her approachable demeanor and genuine investment in trainee development make her an invaluable mentor.

Dr. Griffith-Bauer shared her own thoughts about working with the dermatology residents this past year.

"You've truly been beside me as I grow a ground-up Mohs practice for a new group. Together, we have learned. I'm glad we've all given one another the space to expand our knowledge, the grace to make mistakes, and patience while we all find our rhythm," she said.

Congratulations to Dr. Griffith Bauer and Dr. Hanson!
